We respectfully acknowledge that we live, learn, and work on the traditional territory of the Haudenosaunee, Anishinaabe, and Neutral Peoples. This land is part of the Haldimand Tract, territory that was granted by the British Crown to the Six Nations of the Grand River in 1784. The grant included six miles on either side of the Grand River, from its source to its mouth. While much of this land has since been taken or sold without the consent of the Six Nations, their connection to this territory remains strong. The beauty, resilience, and deep knowledge of the Haudenosaunee and Anishnaabe people continue to shape the land and those who live on it. This history invites settlers and other-Indigenous people to reflect on our shared responsibilities. Living and working on this land means honouring its original caretakers through both words and meaningful actions. We also recognize the Métis Nation of Ontario, particularly Region 8, where vibrant Métis families and communities continue to thrive. Their vibrant culture, unique governance, and connection in our community are vital threads in the fabric of this region.

In the spirit of reconciliation, we are committed to nurturing relationships rooted in respect, reciprocity, and truth. This includes offering culturally responsive programming, amplifying Indigenous voices, and walking alongside Indigenous communities and organizations in ongoing efforts to honour past, present and future relationships. It is with gratitude and humility that we continue this journey of learning and allyship.
